Having a child with his Danish girlfriend, Victor now moved to Europe and is trying to put his name on the European map. We catched up with the friendly Caribbean in freezing Munich Eisbach (the river wave) conditions, when he was catching up with RVCA Europe for a little shooting.

Hi Victor, tell us a bit about you...

My full name is Victor Rosario, Im 23 years old and Im a native Dominican.

What have u been up to lately?

The last few months I’ve been browsing around Europe looking for waves, my girlfriend and I just had a baby boy and Im trying to get involved in the European surf scene so I can spend more time with them.

What are your plans for the near future?

Well, right now I want to create a name in the European surf scene and compete in as many surf competitions as possible, so Im trying to get some sponsors to help me finance these goals! Did you enter any European contests yet? Actually, I was in Norway doing the Volcom Codfish pro in october, so yes, only one so far bur I'm trying to fix some budgets! So you still looking for more sponsors to reach your goals. What do you do for a living at the moment? Right now Im working a bit with my family to make some scratch, but Im really trying to find some potential sponsors to help me get to where I want to be.

You have been traveling through the northern parts of Europa a bit. Which countries did you travel through and how did you like the places?

So far I’ve been to Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden. Denmark is where Im living and I like the fact that is pretty consistent on the waves, not so much, but enough to surf a few times a week, Norway was very beautiful and fun with good waves, and Germany was also very interesting with the river surfing, believe me, it’s not as easy as it looks!

With your son and girlfriend living in Denmark you are probably going to spend a lot of time in Denmark for the future...Coming from a warm country how do you like staying there?

It’s funny, but I though it was going to be colder, it’s cold compared to DR of course, but it’s not as bad as I was preparing myself to. I’ve been using a 5.4 mm wetsuit and it works perfect.

Tell us a bit about the surf in the DR?

How can I begin, surfing at home is incredible, there isn’t any Bali like perfection, but it’s very consistent, diverse and warm!!! So I really recommend it, there’s waves for all kinds of surfers and levels, from a small mushy beginner wave to fun barrelling powerful reef and beach breaks.

How are the opportunities to get noticed by Surf industry as an Dominican surfer? Is it easy to get support by the surf brands?

At this point is very hard, since the surfing market hasn’t reached very high in my country, the most successful surfers in DR have to travel a lot in order to get noticed by potential sponsors and brands, and being so hard for Dominicans to get visas and money to afford this kind of trips there’s a lot of talent going to waste.

Do you have localism in the DR?

Localism is present everywhere, but it all depends on you as a tourist and guest surfer, if you respect, not only the locals, but everyone in the water you will be equally respected and admired.

How about crowds?

The only place that you might find a bit of crowd is the Right at Encuentro beach, witch is the most frequented place by beginners and intermediate surfers, the rest of the waves are surfed by more advanced surfers, witch are not that many! Ok Victor thanks for your time and good luck with your goals for the future in Europe!…Is there anything else you want to say? Thank you guys for taking some time to sit down with me, and I hope to be around for a while!
